Taking care of one’s health is important at any age. Longevity is not a gift of nature but is conquered step by step, just as one conquers the finish line at the end of a race.

The Longevity Run is the result of a project conceived by Prof. Francesco Landi (Professor of Medicine and Surgery at the Cattolica University Director and of the UOC Geriatric Internal Medicine of the Gemelli Foundation) with the doctors of the Policlinico A. Gemelli and the researchers of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in order to raise awareness of healthy lifestyles and to encourage cardiovascular prevention.

Besides running over a distance of 5 km, the Longevity Run combines in one venue:

INFORMATION: Aimed at emphasising the importance of cardiovascular prevention and adopting healthy lifestyles to improve one’s health.

CHECKUP: All participants in the Rome Half Marathon and the Longevity Run will be offered a free check-up to monitor the 7 cardiovascular risk factors (Blood Pressure, Blood Glucose, Cholesterol, BMI, Diet, Exercise, Smoking) and re-evaluate their state of health. The check-up will investigate lifestyle (smoking habits, balanced diet, exercise), cholesterol and blood sugar (on a capillary blood sample), anthropometry (body mass index and waist-to-hip ratio), muscle mass and strength (calf and arm circumference, measurement of muscle strength, chair test), blood pressure, respiratory function, sleep quality.

SPORT: A day of sporting events culminating in the Longevity Run, a collective running workout*!

*You can participate in the event by running, walking, strolling in the company of friends or with your dog on a route that will wind its way through the evocative heart of Rome.

Fitwalkers will also be able to participate in the Longevity Run.
