Roma, 19 September 2024 adidas is the official technical partner of the Wizz Air Rome Half Marathon, scheduled for October 20, 2024. This exciting race, organized by RomaOstia and RCS Sports & Events, has already attracted around 15,000 participants. adidas, a global leader in sports apparel, is also a partner of the RomaOstia Half Marathon, organized by the same partnership.

Last night, on Wednesday, September 18, two of Rome’s top running communities – adidas runners Roma and Runners of Rome – joined forces with the trainers of the Rome Half Marathon and 150 other runners for a thrilling run through the streets of the Eternal City. Their starting point? The iconic adidas brand center located on Via del Corso 132, where they proudly revealed the official race jersey for Rome’s very first half marathon!

Adidas has big plans in the lead-up to the event, offering weekly training sessions to help runners prepare for the 21-kilometer challenge. Check out the schedule for these epic meet-ups via this link: https://adirun.app/4YXp.

The race jersey itself, designed by adidas, is a tribute to the iconic landmarks that make Rome’s marathon route so spectacular. The race kicks off at 8:30 a.m. from the historic Circo Massimo, with participants set to hit the road in four different waves, ensuring everyone gets a chance to shine. As the athletes run through the heart of Rome, they will pass some of its most stunning landmarks, culminating in a breathtaking finish at the Colosseum!

All participants will receive their official jersey and race bib at the Wizz Air Rome Half Marathon village, located outside Eataly Ostiense in Piazzale XII Ottobre 1492. Pickup days are set for October 18 and 19.

Alessandra Furia, Senior Brand Director at adidas, couldn’t be more excited about this collaboration: “We’re honored to be a part of the Wizz Air Rome Half Marathon, an internationally renowned event that will take runners through the very heart of Rome’s historic city center. This half marathon is all about inclusion, featuring a special fundraising initiative tied to its relay race, the Half Marathon Relay. Our partnership is rooted in a shared mission: to offer athletes the best, with products designed to break records on both long and short distances, as well as to meet the needs of casual runners with gear for every aspiration.”

And there’s more! Italian middle-distance runner and national record holder Yeman Crippa shared his own words of inspiration: “I want to express my support to all the runners taking part in this extraordinary event. The Wizz Air Rome Half Marathon is not just an athletic challenge, it’s a celebration of the passion and dedication that define the running world. I know how rewarding and tough it can be to tackle such a distance. Every race is a testament to strength, endurance, and determination, and I’m sure each participant will give their all to break personal limits and achieve their goals. Seeing athletes from all over the world come to Rome, in such a magical and inspiring setting, is both a privilege and an honor. I encourage you to give it your all, enjoy every step of the journey, and celebrate your hard work and dedication. Best of luck to everyone!”

Adidas will be present at the marathon village with The Running Lab, an exclusive experience designed to let participants test the latest in running shoe technology. Don’t miss the chance to try the new SUPERNOVA, manufactured for ultimate comfort and designed to help runners achieve their goals. In addition to Supernova, the entire adizero product line will also be available for testing.

The Running Lab is packed with services, including specialized foot scans to analyze your foot shape and arch, personalized gait analysis to help prevent injuries, expert advice on the best adidas running shoes, and focused training sessions with renowned coaches. Furthermore, in the weeks leading up to the race, adidas will roll out several activities to celebrate the world of running in all its forms. Stay tuned for updates through the adidas app and the brand’s social media channels.

With one month to go, the international presence is impressive – around 70% of participants come from outside Italy! The race also boasts gender balance as half of the runners are women. Another standout feature is the number of young participants – over 50% are under the age of 35, making it one of the most youth-driven races in Italy.

In addition to the 21km race, which is part of the official FIDAL calendar, other exciting events have been confirmed, including a relay race for teams of three and the 5km Longevity Run, a non-competitive race organized by the Policlinico Gemelli IRCCS Foundation. This race, coordinated by Francesco Landi and featuring some of the hospital’s doctors, is all about raising awareness on the importance of sports for maintaining good health and as a tool for longevity. And don’t forget the Italian championship of entrepreneurs and business managers, a special category promoted by the Rome Chamber of Commerce, bringing together professionals from various industries to either compete in the half marathon or take part in the non-competitive event, a true Business Run.

Registration for the Rome Half Marathon 2025 will remain open until October 7!
