2024 edition

The route of the Wizz Air Rome Half Marathon 2024 took participants through the most iconic places in Rome, starting from the Circus Maximus and finishing in front of the Colosseum. The runners crossed the Lungotevere, the characteristic Testaccio district, and reached the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, then continued through Prati, the Spanish Steps and Piazza Navona. In the last kilometres, the route included Via dei Fori Imperiali, providing a thrilling finish with a view of the Colosseum.

The route

Departing from Via del Circo Massimo at the height of the municipal rose garden and immediately descending for about 350 metres before turning left towards the Lungotevere Aventino to then reach the popular Testaccio district, which we will cross along Via Marmorata, Via Galvani and, after passing the slopes of Monte dei Cocci, along Via Zabaglia.

Leaving Testaccio behind, we continue along the flat Via Ostiense until reaching, just before the 4th km, the Papal Basilica of St Paul Outside the Walls around which we reverse direction to return, still along the Via Ostiense, to the square of the same name, leaving the famous Egyptian-style Pyramid Cestia on the left, and then continue.

The last 1,000 metres of the race first run along a section of Via dei Fori Imperiali and then along a slight ascent on Via Cavour before turning right onto Via degli Annibaldi, about 240 metres of slight ascent at about 3% to cross the finish line in front of an unusual and evocative view of the Colosseum.
