Rome, 31 July 2024 – The ongoing Olympic Games are raising the enthusiasm surrounding Italian athletes, as well as the motivation of countless runners to gear up for the upcoming challenges. One of the most eagerly awaited events is the new 21km half marathon of Roma Capitale, the Wizz Air Rome Half Marathon, scheduled for the 20th October, which, less than three months prior to the big date, has exceeded 12 thousand registered participants, more than 70% of whom are foreigners. Very encouraging numbers that confirm Rome’s infinite appeal throughout the world.

Organised by RomaOstia and RCS Sports & Events, and included in the FIDAL calendar, the Wizz Air Rome Half Marathon is gaining increasing popularity. This is primarily due to its route, which winds its way through the wonders of the capital, such as the Colosseum, the Imperial Forum, Piazza del Popolo, Piazza Navona, the Baths of Caracalla and the Circus Maximus.

Enriching the format will be the non-competitive 5 km and the relay, which allows runners to divide the route into three fractions. Another cool new feature is the Intimissimi Uomo branded Runderwear consisting of a ‘wave’ of runners competing in underwear.

Intimissimi Uomo, new partner of the event, is an Italian company synonym of style, quality and comfort, standing out for its wide range of materials and models and experiencing rapid expansion in Italy and worldwide, with more than 400 stores in the country and beyond. During registration, Intimissimi Uomo will offer, to no more than 1,000 participants, a kit containing a t-shirt, microfibre boxer shorts and terrycloth socks to tackle the race.

The partner that will host the Village of the 1st edition of the race at its Rome headquarters is Eataly. Where the Air Terminal Ostiense once stood, exactly in the area outside and adjacent to the building designed by Spanish architect Julio Lafuente in Piazzale XII Ottobre, the Village dedicated to runners and sponsors will be set up in the two days preceding the event. The location can be easily reached by train or with the metro line B. Here, participants will have the opportunity to collect their bib number, complete their registration process and visit the numerous stands set up by our partners.

In addition to its partnership with the Giro d’Italia, Eataly is now also involved in the Rome Half Marathon. A long-standing supporter of the food and wine culture of our peninsula and with a high attention to the quality of its products, Eataly promotes values that are shared not only by runners, but by all sport lovers.
