Rome, 29 January 2025 – Following the success of the first edition, which saw 17,345 runners from all over the world take part, registration for the Wizz Air Rome Half Marathon 2025, the race scheduled for 19 October with start and finish in the city centre, officially reopens.

Twenty-one kilometres and 97 metres to run among the wonders of the capital: this is the half marathon organised by RomaOstia and RCS Sports & Events.

A sporting event strongly desired by Roma Capitale and its Department of Sport and Major Events represented by Alessandro Onorato, who believed from the beginning in the strength of the race course, ideal for attracting many foreign running enthusiasts to the city.

With the first edition. 66% of the total number of registered participants was in fact represented by foreigners, important numbers that have helped position Rome alongside other European cities hosting successful running races, aiming, even for 2025, at ambitious results.

The first edition in 2024 was a success, a bet won with over 17,000 participants. We do not want to be satisfied and will raise the bar even higher next October. The Wizz Air Rome Half Marathon, which can boast a unique route in an open-air museum, can and must be one of the most famous running races in the world. For the city, it is an important event because it generates economic and tourist inducements, encourages social aggregation and, thanks to the activities of the Policlinico Gemelli, focuses a great deal of attention on prevention and health‘. Affirms Alessandro Onorato, Councillor for Major Events, Sport, Tourism and Fashion of Roma Capitale.

Not to be missed, linked to the competitive race, will be the Longevity Run, the 5 km non-competitive run/walk open to all. An event designed to protect health, organised in collaboration with the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS, which will provide a staff for free check-ups for registered participants during the Village’s opening days.
